I’ve just found the UK box art for The Sims 3 Ambitions on EA UK’s press website – and it’s slightly different to the US one I reported about earlier. Namely, the ghost in the top-right is more weird-looking (I would say anyway), the bottom-middle bit has another Sim, a completely different robot, and the Sim working on it is holding what looks like a chip rather than a blowtorch-thing, and in the bottom-right bit there’s no heart in the x-ray thing (plus the Sim being x-ray-ed in male rather than female), plus a few other more cosmetic tweaks. Compare them below (UK one on the left, US on the right, click either to view larger):

A new “blog” has been posted on TheSims3.com, detailing a day in the life of an architectural designer, a stylist and a tattooist in The Sims 3 Ambitions:
My Sim, Grant Duders, has made a name for himself in the community as an up and coming Architectural Designer. However, he doesn’t have enough clout to land high paying jobs like Home Re-Modelling or Kitchen Re-Designs. Thankfully, a local sports enthusiast is keen to have THE room for watching athletic events with friends. As a male, Grant Duders understands the macho psyche and feels up to the task.
Click below then scroll down to the post titled “The Sims 3 Ambitions Blog” to read the full article, which is pretty darn long!

Update (10:14 pm BST): The blog has now been published as its own page on TheSims3.com, complete with full-size versions of the new screenshots. I have of course added those screenshots to the tab on this site if you would prefer to view them here, especially as the link below may not work if your language there is not set to English > United States.

EA has revealed what you’ll see on the front of the box when you pick up The Sims 3 Ambitions – in the States anyway, art may vary in other locations, rating definitely will. And this is it (click it to make it go all bigger like):
A new game update has been released for The Sims 3, which includes the following fix:
- Base Game: Fixes an issue that causes Sims to get stuck in the “Grab a Slice” interaction on pizza.
(You can see the rest at the bottom of the full news page – click “Read more” if you’re not already there)
As usual, they recommend you follow their “check-list” before updating, which you can find by clicking below and finding the post called “Game Update for: 1.11/2.6/3.2″ – remember that the file directory in Windows Vista and Windows 7 is, by default, C:\Users\USER\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 (the directory they specify only applies to Windows XP):

You can get the update by going to the Game Updates tab in your game launcher, if you’re not prompted to update automatically.
If after updating you get some sort of “code version is incompatible” error, SimGuruHydra has got you covered – scroll to the bottom of the full news page for the details.
There’s also a small update for the Create a World Tool, bringing it to version 1.6 (still beta):
Create a World – Updating compatibility version of Create a World Tool – Beta to be compatible with The Sims 3 to ensure it continues to function with in-game features and the Exchange.
You can apparently get that through the game launcher too.
In order to make it easier for everyone, the news has been moved over to WordPress. Here’s some reasons why this is great:
Benefits for you:
Posts can now be commented on without logging in and with extra formatting
Posts can now be linked to directly as they all have their own page (this is especially helpful for those accessing the news via the RSS feed or Twitter)
The home page will probably load quicker
All the news in certain categories, for example “The Sims 3 Ambitions”, can be found easily
Benefits for me:
Easier to add posts
Can post news from anywhere (rather than just from home)
News is automatically archived
There are, however, a couple of downers:
If you actually wanted to use your Google Friend Connect log in to comment, you can’t – sorry
New Poll: Have you bought or are planning to get The Sims 3 Design & High-Tech Stuff / High-End Loft Stuff?
At last I have been able to end the poll – so, that must mean we finally have some results right? Yes. So last time I asked Have you downloaded The Sims 3 Create a World Tool Beta? The majority of you (40%) aren’t interested in the tool at all, but 30% of you have. Click below to view and discuss the full results, plus read two explanations.
> Poll results
As a consequence of a poll ending, a new poll must have begun, and so it has: Have you bought or are planning to get The Sims 3 Design & High-Tech Stuff / High-End Loft Stuff? So have/are you? I want to know, so vote to the right right now.
The amazing part of a Sims Developer’s job that keeps us coming back to work day after day is the sheer number of hilarious and unexpected moments that occur in our game, typically as the result of portions of the game that are “works in progress.”
A fun read – check it out by clicking below and looking for the post “The Sims 3 Blooper Blog!”. You may need to change your country and language to English > United States using the Select Language link at the bottom of the page for the post to appear (if you’re taken to the homepage after doing this, look for the “The Sims 3 Blooper Blog!” link in the The Sims 3 Newsfeed box).

Okay, this is getting ridiculous now – the current poll (Have you downloaded The Sims 3 Create a World Tool Beta?) has been extended yet again due to a lack of votes. Assuming I’ve finally received enough votes by then, it will now end on 20th March. If you haven’t done so already, please – vote now to the right of any page.
Two more The Sims 3 Ambitions screenshots have appeared on the ‘net, showing what looks like a ghost hunter capturing a ghost, and a Sim seemingly enjoying himself as a pile of junk explodes:
EA has announced the latest expansion pack for The Sims 3, titled simply Ambitions:
Widen your Sim’s horizons with a bunch of killer new career opportunities. With The Sims™ 3 Ambitions, decide whether your Sim will be the brave town hero or cause loads of mischief among their neighbours. Make your Sim save the day as a fearless firefighter, change the town as an ace architect, or live on the edge as a tattoo artist.
EA has released a trailer, which you can watch below:
GameSpot has had a Q&A with associate producer Grant Rodiek:
GameSpot: Give us an overview of The Sims 3 Ambitions.
Grant Rodiek: The Sims 3 Ambitions allows players to control their sims while they are at work in a variety of new careers. Instead of sending your sims off to work all day, The Sims 3 Ambitions lets you pick a career like firefighting, investigator, architect, ghost hunter, stylist, or doctor and then guide your sim to make choices and succeed (or fail) every step of the way. You can also make your sim a tattoo artist, sculptor, or inventor.
I’ve found five screenshots so far, four of which you will have seen if you followed my link to Amazon on Tuesday, so click below to view one new screenshot:

Update (1:14 pm): Forgot to mention, the expansion is planned to be released in June. Also, the source for the screenshot at the top is Joystiq.
