Latest Late Night Reviews: StrategyInformer

Wednesday 10th November 2010 | 7:40 pm UK time | Categories

StrategyInformer provides today’s The Sims 3 Late Night review, giving it 8.5 out of 10:

It’s a welcome addition the Sims 3 family and one that’s executed to the high standards that we’ve come to expect. A must buy for fans of the series, but it’ll do little for convincing sceptics. Then again, Late Night wasn’t built for the naysayers; it was built for those that enjoy crafting imaginary lives.

Metacritic finally has enough reviews to give a Metascore - 73 based on four reviews. The Ranking from GameRankings remains at 75.00% based on one review.

The Sims Was Inspired By Sim Ant – Will Wright

Wednesday 10th November 2010 | 6:11 pm UK time | Categories

According to Joystiq, Will Wright has said that a previous game of his, Sim Ant, was a key inspiration for The Sims, and the basis of its gameplay:

“We decided to program Sim Ant as close to how real ants work as we could, which means that they’re actually responding to pheromone trails, and the intelligence is distributed environmentally,” Wright recalled when asked how The Sims came about. “We were able to get very complex behavior out of the ants just using these pheromone distributions. So I started to wonder how much of human behavior I could simulate the same way.” As it turns out, a lot.

Latest Late Night Reviews: GamesRadar, You?

Monday 8th November 2010 | 2:31 am UK time | Categories

Tonight’s The Sims 3 Late Night review is from GamesRadar, which rated it a “Good” seven out of 10:

But you have to give EA some credit for cramming hours of content into this package, and if no amount of money would come between you and your virtual families, Late Night will probably keep you busy for quite some time – at least until the next expansion hits.

That reviewed included five new screenshots, which are also available to view on the Screenshots tab.

Latest Late Night Reviews: Digital Spy

Friday 5th November 2010 | 6:55 pm UK time | Categories

Today’s The Sims 3 Late Night review is from Digital Spy, who gave it three stars out of a possible five:

Despite the somewhat awkward integration of its new features The Sims 3: Late Night is another fan-pleasing addition to the series. Needless to say, more bells and whistles aren’t going to convert anyone who was unconvinced by the main game, but there are plenty more hours of gameplay for the diehards to sink their fangs into.

Still no reviews have been added to either Metacritic or GameRankings so there’s still no Metascore and The Ranking remains 75.00% based on one review.

Latest Late Night Reviews: Gaming Blend

Thursday 4th November 2010 | 6:23 pm UK time | Categories

It feels like reviews for The Sims 3 Late Night are coming out even more slowly than with previous expansion packs – maybe everyone’s too busy reviewing The Sims 3 for consoles to review this? I don’t know. Anyway, Gaming Blend provide today’s review, who don’t give a rating:

I think Late Night may be the best Sims 3 expansion pack yet in terms of refreshing the game and building on to what already makes The Sims so great. For people who are looking for a new way to play the game, much like how World Adventures was with the added puzzles and adventures, you won’t find it here but I don’t consider that a shortcoming of the EP.

No reviews have been added to either Metacritic or GameRankings since last time (a week ago), so there’s still no Metascore and The Ranking remains at 75.00% based on just one review.

Late Night: Gaming Blend Interviews Grant Rodiek, Plus New Screenshots

Thursday 4th November 2010 | 1:04 am UK time | Categories

View of Bridgeport in The Sims 3 Late NightGaming Blend has posted an interview with The Sims 3 Late Night Associate Producer Grant Rodiek:

It seems kind of evident that you guys have a pretty good sense of humor when it comes to designing the game and putting in these little funny scenarios.

Late Night was an especially funny pack for us. We added the breast slider and there were so many funny meetings where we were trying to think of just horribly ridiculous headlines and puns we could use around that feature.
