Prius v Now Available To Download For The Sims 3

Thursday 2nd February 2012 | 11:57 pm UK time | Categories

A new version of the Toyota Prius, the Prius v, is now available to download for free from The Sims 3 Store. There’s more though:

Surprise your Sim today with brand new items inspired by the Prius v. Enjoy these new additions; a surfboard sculpture, a new barbeque, a high end electric stereo, a custom guitar and a whole mess of sports gear to help your Sim stay connected and efficient! Download today!

It appears to only be available in the US and Canada versions of the store, but I can’t see anything saying you can’t go to the Canada store and get it there from anywhere in the world (for example)… The second link below will probably only work if you’re in the US or Canada, but the first link should work from anywhere.

Meet The SuperMes

Tuesday 31st January 2012 | 11:51 pm UK time | Categories

The first episode of a new show produced in The Sims 3 for UK TV channel Channel 4 is now available to watch online. Here’s a bit about the show:

The SuperMes is a brand new show built and recorded inside The Sims™ 3. Four characters – Clare, Anita, Ryan and Robert – are all about to start sharing a house together. It’s Clare’s first time living away from her family, and she is a pretty shy and awkward girl. We follow her as she starts settling in, and we watch as the four of them learn how to behave together, how to get what they really want, and what life is actually all about. It all took place in The Sims™ 3 And we recorded everything exactly as it happened.

The show is attached to some sort of web game that “helps you to be better at life” — you can find out more on the website.

If you’ve ever wondered where the official screenshots and videos of The Sims 3 and expansion packs come from, an interview with an EA staff member on EA.com confirms there’s a dedicated team:

Let’s start with your name and job title.
My name is Charles Graf and I’m a Game Capture Artist on The Sims Video Team.

The Sims Video Team? What does that team do?
We make all of the gameplay footage used in The Sims game trailers and television ads. We also produce all of the images used for PR screenshots that get sent out to magazines, news sites, gaming sites, and blogs.

Senior Designer Answers Showtime Questions

Wednesday 18th January 2012 | 12:51 pm UK time | Categories

The Sims 3 Showtime senior designer Aaron Conners has posted three blog posts on TheSims3.com in which he answers quite a few different questions about the expansion. One of the things he confirms is that the new online features (except SimPort) aren’t actually part of Showtime and will be made available via a base game update:

7. We’ve heard that there are other online features coming, can you give an overview on how the online aspects work including the new achievements, the in-game player wall and player updates?

The goal of our new online features, which will be available for all The Sims 3 players when The Sims 3 Showtime launches in March, is to allow you to connect with your The Sims 3 friends -and us – in fun and rewarding ways.
